Check regional designations without authorizing a substitute. The table separates manufacturer-listed names from a material change that requires specification review.
SPECIFICATION REFERENCE
A related designation does not establish identical product standards, dimensional ranges, heat treatment or certification. Keep the original drawing callout and compare the candidate supplier document before accepting an alternative.

Retain the drawing designation in the RFQ. Ask the supplier to identify the candidate material and product standard, then compare the required composition, mechanical condition and document scope. Record the buyer’s approval if the proposed supply changes the specification.
An aluminum alloy match does not establish its temper. A steel family match does not establish prehard hardness. Keep these conditions explicit even when the designation table looks familiar.
The reference links help identify the material. Purchasing and acceptance should use the actual supplier specification and the documents agreed for the order, with traceability where required.
