Sheet Metal Fabrication Questions Before Quotation
Confirm the files, material, forming, welding, finishing, inspection, and document requirements that affect the manufacturing review.What files should I send for a sheet metal fabrication quote?
Send the available 3D model and a dimensioned drawing. For laser-cut and formed parts, a STEP file together with a dimensioned DXF or PDF helps clarify profiles, bends, holes, weld details, and critical requirements.
What information should be included with the RFQ?
Include quantity, material and grade, known bend and weld requirements, surface finish, visible or cosmetic surfaces, critical dimensions, inspection needs, and any required documents. Information may be provided in the drawing or project notes.
Which sheet metal materials can OUJI coordinate?
Current project experience includes aluminum, stainless steel, carbon steel, galvanized steel, copper, and brass. Grade, temper, thickness, bend feasibility, availability, and certificate needs are confirmed against the drawing before production.
Can finishing be included with sheet metal fabrication?
Yes. Depending on the material and project requirement, finishing may include deburring, brushing, bead blasting, anodizing, powder coating, electroplating, passivation, or electropolishing. Specify color, texture, visible surfaces, and masking requirements in the RFQ.
How are sheet metal quality and documents coordinated?
OUJI confirms the drawing, material, bend details, weld callouts, critical dimensions, finishing, and agreed inspection scope with the selected manufacturing resource. Critical-dimension checks, material certificates, inspection reports, and finish photos can be coordinated when requested and agreed before production.
